The audiences reported on here were Australian, and it is noteworthy that the views of Peter Pastor (values and moral instruction) and Rex Right (vocational education and the economy) receive considerable airing in the Australian media.
Nonetheless, it is clear they have failed to persuade, with both the public and the Bachelor of Education students rejecting their view. Arguments about the importance of values, standards, the curriculum and the economy are the focus of the politicians and policy makers, but did not impress the audiences.
